NORTH CAROLINA INSURANCE INFORMATION
It is illegal in the state of NC to operate a motor vehicle without liability insurance on that vehicle. All residents that own a vehicle are responsible to have it insured at all times, and are subject to random compliance checks. The state minimum liability limits in NC read 30/60/25, or $30 thousand per person bodily injury, $60 thousand per accident bodily injury, and $25 thousand property damage. These are the state minimum limits, and insurance can be purchased up to $500 thousand bodily injury, and $100 thousand property damage. Auto insurance limits mean that the insurance company representing an at-fault driver will pay up to these amounts. Anything over these coverage amounts falls on the driver personally. Liability auto insurance in NC can be purchased on a vehicle (owner’s insurance) or on yourself for vehicles you drive and do not own (named-operator, or non-owner insurance)
A non-owner insurance policy can be written whether you have a current license, or if you need the policy to take your tests and obtain a license. WESSELL INSURANCE can issue a policy within 30 minutes, and provide you with an ID card and proof to show the DMV. Once the non-owner policy is in place, you can then add vehicles and other drivers if you wish, or keep it as-is.
